A man died after he allegedly jumped from a flyover project in Mandurriao, Iloilo City morning of Aug 3, 2022.

The victim was identified as Peter Diaz, 32, of Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao.

Major Rey Sumagaysay, Mandurriao police chief, said Diaz’s mother identified his body.

She claimed that her son left their home evening of Aug 2 and failed to return since.

Sunagaysay said Diaz apparently scaled the flyover using a bamboo ladder which was attached to the structure.

He made his way through the floor beam and deck before he was seen around 2:45 a.m. of Wednesday.

Jelix Landero, security guard deployed to the site at Barangay Hibao an Norte, Mandurriao, claimed that he noticed the man after he was heard shouting on top of his voice.

Landero claimed he went near and cautioned the man.

But the security guard claimed he was surprised when the victim fell from the deck.

Before that, Landero claimed that he heard the victim saying “Superman”.

The guard believed that the victim was drunk when the incident happened.

Members of the Iloilo City Emergency Responders (ICER) were called to rescue the victim.

“But he had no vital signs when the rescuers checked on him,” Sumagaysay said.

The man was still rushed to the nearby Western Visayas Medical Center where he was declared dead on arrival.
