Team Mambusao Fitness Gym reigned supreme against Team Lakwatseros, 93-88, during their knockout game in the 2022 On D’ Move (ODM) Sports League Invitational Cup organized by ODM Sportswear.

The first organized basketball league in Roxas City amid the COVID-19 pandemic had a successful return after their province was placed under Alert Level 3 several weeks ago.

Both Mambusao and Lakwatseros didn’t disappoint the crowd as well as the livestream viewers and put on a show for four whole quarters.

It was Mambusao who dictated the early tempo of the game as their aggressive high-octane offense gave them easy deuces in fast break situations.

During the second quarter, Mambusao’s Joperson Vista sparked a huge run through his on-point playmaking and three-point shooting that quickly ballooned their lead to 15, 52-37, at the end of the first half.

What looked to be a one-sided affair in favor of Mambusao quickly changed during the second half after team Lakwatseros’ offense finally came alive courtesy of sniper Lester Balansag’s shooting.

Mambusao’s 18-point lead was trimmed to just four, 77-73, with team Lakwatseros grabbing momentum and gaining confidence in the clutch moments of the game.

However, the Lakwatsero’s momentum was suddenly halted when Mambusao’s Gerrymar Lustica and Arnie Tulio sank timely baskets that helped their lead stay within four.

Team Mambusao continued their fine play down the stretch and sank crucial free throws that helped them seal the win and the final spot in the semifinals against the no.1  team in the league Team Tawi Cares.
