ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Officials of Mambusao, Capiz are continuously extending help to some 40 construction workers who are stranded in Boracay island because of the lockdown amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Mayor Leodegario Labao Jr. said they continue to send relief goods and food packs to the workers.

He said that once the Mambusao residents can go home, the quarantine facilities of the town are ready for them.

As president of the League of the Municipalities of the Philippines Capiz chapter, Labao was designated as the focal person for the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force by Gov. Esteban Evan Nonoy Contreras.

He was with the governor when the provincial government gave financial assistance to the different local government units in Capiz in response to COVID-19.

Last week, three Capizeño construction workers from Mambusao, Capiz were moved to a quarantine facility at Atabay Elementary School in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique.

According to Ronilo Ledesma, he and two other fellow workers first sought the help of Mambusao Mayor Leodegario Labao Jr. to allow them to go home.

But the mayor instead brought them to the quarantine facility in Antique on board the town’s ambulance escorted by nurses and police.

Ledesma said they are part of the 61 individuals under quarantine in Antique.

He and Dino Ledesma and Ruel Adolfo are hoping to go home to Mambusao after the 14-day quarantine period. The three thanked local officials of Mambusao for the assistance extended to them.
