Local skater Christopher Leccio Hurich, popularly known as “Ping” just got nominated for Asia Skateboarding Awards in Fast Feet category.

After receiving tons of love from fellow Ilonggos for his inclusion in the Asia Skateboarding Awards, Ping received more good news after seeing his name as one of the nominees in the Fast Feet category.

For those of you who don’t know, the Fast Feet category is for those who are adept and precise in positioning their feet for multiple tricks in a short amount of space and time.

This being his first-ever international skateboarding recognition, Ping was also honored to be in the same category with the best skateboarders not only in the country but also in the entire Asia.

Also, during an exclusive interview with the Daily Guardian, even if he doesn’t win the award, one of Ping’s goals is to put Iloilo skateboarding on top and to boost more support from the local government.

Previously, Ping, together with his circle in the local skateboarding scene here in Iloilo City, was already making developments in terms of its relationship with the Iloilo City Sports Development Division headed by Executive Assistant Rudiver Jungco Sr.

To show support, Jungco and his team helped put up additional lights in the Iloilo Skate Park and if not for COVID-19, more plans will have actually materialized by now.

“I was surprised that I got nominated for the #FASTFEET2020 category because there are over hundreds of nominees from all over Asia. I was fortunate enough to be selected as a highlight for the category and that was posted on Instagram. I’m not sure what my chances are because I haven’t seen all the nominees video submissions but from what I’ve seen in the highlights posted on Instagram the category has heavy hitters from all over Asia. Even if I don’t win, I just want to be able to give more positive exposure for skateboarding here in my city and hopefully the country. My goal is to use this opportunity to get more support from the local government to build better skateboarding facilities and programs that will help the youth develop their skills to be future champions in the global stage,” Ping said during his interview.
