Loan officers finish SB Corp SME Business Specialist Certification

AT LEAST 18 loan officers from private banks and the Small Business Corporation finished the third batch of the SME Business Specialist Certification, the first module of its SME Loan Officers Certification Program, aimed at providing solid groundwork for developing participants’ skills and knowledge in catering to local SME borrowers.

Launched in 2015, the certification program for Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) credit has produced 88 graduates who are now better equipped with skills and knowledge to cater to their SME borrowers.

The SME Business Specialist Certification Program is a competency-based learning design for banking and financing professionals seeking to learn the credit technologies for SMEs.

Likewise, the program is a multi-module competency certification, leading to four certification titles for bank personnel and financing professionals assigned in credit evaluation of business loans for SME borrowers.

The SME Business Specialist Certification Program is also ideal for banks who wish to tap the SME Market and build-up its SME loan portfolio.

The certification module is part of a four-level “ladderized” certification program. Other modules include SME Credit Analyst, SME Credit Officer and SME Lending Strategist. The Certification Program addresses the need of financial institutions for the right competencies for their staff.
