Imp iloilo to discuss guimbal incident

THE League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) in Iloilo has yet to discuss the alleged mauling of a police officer involving Guimbal town mayor Oscar Garin.

Iloilo 1st district Rep. Richard Garin and his father Mayor Garin are accused of manhandling Police Officer 3 (PO3) Federico Macaya Jr., a member of the Guimbal Police Station, morning of Dec 26, 2018 at the town plaza of Guimbal, Iloilo.

LMP-Iloilo President and Ajuy town mayor Jett Rojas said that they will talk to Mayor Garin during their regular meeting this month.

“Subong nga January may regular meeting kami, last Friday of the month ti istoryahan namon ina,” he said.

He said all 43 municipal and city mayors are invited to their regular meeting.

Rojas said the LMP has yet to issue an official statement on the incident they want to gather pertinent information from all parties involved, particularly Mayor Garin.

“Kung kaisa naga-attend (sa meeting) si Mayor Oca Garin. Tanan ginapadla-an sang radio message, ginatawagan kag ginatext,” Rojas said.

Rep. Garin had already publicly apologized for the incident.

“Nagangayo ako sang pasensya especially sa Philippine National Police as an institution, and also sa officers and personnel sang PNP upon whom I have great respect,” Rep. Garin said in a statement.
