LEPRECHAUN x TUNESQUAD hoops league ready for 1st conference of 2023

One of the fast-emerging basketball leagues in Iloilo City is ready for another action-packed conference this 2023.

Named the LEPRECHAUN x TUNESQUAD, the basketball club confirmed that it will be kicking off with its first conference of the year on February 12, 2023.

Started way back in 2006 with Mr. Dats Hallares as its founder, the basketball club suddenly grew to a full-time league which slowly drew attraction from team owners and businesses that are avid fans of the sport.

After the leadership of Mr. Hallares, Mr. Harold Dimaciado spearheaded the club and became the point person every year they held a league.

Mr. Dimaciado lifted the organization hand-in-hand with Mr. Latter Taasan, the man behind the Tunesquad ball club who later on decided to form a merger for good.

“We keep continuing sang liga kay aside sa having fun and health benefits sa amon self, nagka networking pa from small entrepreneurs to big businesses. It’s a give-and-take situation,” said Mr. Dimaciado in an exclusive interview with the Daily Guardian.

After their efforts in putting up a well-organized system, LEPRECHAUN x TUNESQUAD now grew to an 18-team league with almost two sponsors per team.

Last year, the basketball league gathered a total of 16 competing teams and now, two new organizations were welcomed in the LEPRECHAUN x TUNESQUAD family.

The participating teams at this first conference are: Kookies, HOG, BF Trucking, El Marino, Mahanaim, Tely’s, Ford, IJOJPA, Orquiola Construction, Bel is Cove, ODM x Stella, RBA, Everyone Tech, Chin up SMILE, Malikhain Hyundai, Lucky 88 Aquasure, Pascual, and Motech.

LEPRECHAUN x TUNESQUAD will have its tournament days from Monday-Thursday and tapped Green Meadows and Hacienda Verde as its main venues.

Players to watch in the upcoming league are Patrick Huyan, Joseph Reygie Caniban, Glenn Jimenea, Johndy Orleans, Inno Miclat, Rush Rubin, Manuel Dolar, Paul Deocampo, and local celebrity Pskye “Papa Rey” Montero.
