Laborer caught for alleged illegal drug peddling

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 28-year-old laborer is facing criminal charges after he was caught in a drug buy-bust operation at Barangay Cabugao Oeste, Panay, Capiz Saturday afternoon.

John Mark Bocala of Barangay Calapawan Panay town was collared after allegedly selling 10 sachets of suspected shabu.

The Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) and Station Drug Enforcement Teams (SDET) of Panay, Panitan and Maayon Municipal Police Stations conducted the bust which led to the seizure of the P1,500 marked money, a pouch, a cellphone, and a motorcycle.

The alleged illegal drugs weighed 3 grams and valued at P20,000.

Bocala will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. He is presently in the custody of Panay Municipal Police Station.

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old motorist was arrested for possessing an unlicensed handgun Saturday evening at the national highway of Barangay Vizcaya, President Roxas, Capiz.

The President Roxas Municipal Police Station was conducting a checkpoint when suspect Jason Delfin of Brgy. Cabungahan, Maayon, Capiz and his three back riders attempted to pass through.

Police were able to collar Delfin but his passengers escaped.

Delfin yielded a pistol-type homemade shotgun and ammunition. He was detained for failure to present valid permits for his gun.
