Kaya hoped that with their revamped lineup they could finally solve the Cerez puzzle. Those hopes were quickly extinguished as Iloilo fell short once again losing 2-0 in their third rivalry match against Ceres-Negros.

Jordan Mintah had a clean attempt to draw first blood but was saved.

After Iloilo’s blazing start to the match, it was Ceres that would strike first. OJ Porteria and Mike Ott made a beautiful connection to score in the opening goal, as Porteria delivered a sweet pass to Ott in the middle for an easy tap.

Mintah attempted an equalizer minutes after the Ott goal but could not get a clear look, hitting the goal post.

In the dying minutes of the first half, Porteria doubled the lead with his insane speed and impressive ball dribbling, slicing through Kaya’s defense for a 2-0 lead.

In the last minute of the first half, Mintah and Super Herrera of Ceres were stretchered off after a heavy aerial collision and did not return.

Iloilo team captain Jovin Bedic, together with Kenshiro Daniels, tried to rally a comeback with his numerous attempts in the second half but could not convert a single goal.

Kaya missed the services of Mintah and will go back to the drawing board after their disappointing loss.
