NBA G League President Shareef Abdur-Rahim announced and confirmed that Filipino basketball sensation Kai Sotto officially signed with them and will play in the next season.

Sotto will be joining top recruits out of high school such as Isaiah Todd, Daishen Nix, and Filipino-American Jalen Green who all decided to forego college basketball.

As of now, the G League still hasn’t confirmed what team Sotto will play for, the same with Green, Nix, and Todd.

Also, Sotto will be the first international prospect who will sign with the professional pathway program, said Shams Charania of The Athletic.

In today’s high school basketball scene in the US, the trend of players going to the G league is starting to rise, with five-star recruits skipping college in the hopes of stepping closer to their NBA dream.

Sotto, who drew multiple offers from the University of Kentucky, Georgia Tech, University of Auburn, and DePaul, chose to go the other path, making his tertiary eligibility invalid.
