Contestants from the Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs) of Jordan and Buenavista, Guimaras bagged the top two awards in the recent 32nd Civil Registration Month Quiz Bee contest for the Local Civil Registry Staff of Region 6, held on Feb 28, 2022 at the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Regional Office VI.
Michael Esprago of LCRO Jordan outranked other contestants and was declared Regional Champion for the LCRO Staff Quiz Bee competition.
Robyn Lois P. Gaylan of Buenavista LCRO got second place.
Michael Esprago will represent Region 6 in the national CRM Quiz Bee next year.
LCRO Guimaras has been dominating the competition the past two years (2021 and 2022).
Gaylan, the champion in 2021, represented Western Visayas to the national 32nd CRM Quiz Bee held on February 23, 2022 in Manila.
“Gaylan and Esprago were the top two winners during the Provincial CRM Quiz Bee Contest provincial elimination round held during the opening of the 32nd CRM,” PSA Provincial Statistics Officer Losare said.
Nine LCRO staff competed – two from Guimaras (Jordan and Buenavista, 2 from Iloilo (Guimbal and Calinog)’ 2 from Negros Occidental (Himamaylan and La Castillana), 1 from Dao, Capiz who won the 3rd place, and two from Antique.
The one-and-a-half-hour quiz bee was comprised of 30 questions covering three categories with different types of questions, including Republic Act Nos. 9048,10172, and 11222, and other civil registry laws, situational and statistics.
Esprago received the P3,000 cash prize with a certificate of recognition, while Gaylan received P2,000 with the same certificate of recognition.
Losare extended her congratulatory message to the two winners. She also announced the result during the Provincial culmination of the 32nd CRM in Guimaras, saying that PSA Guimaras contestant also won second place in the Quiz bee for PSA staff category.
She thanked the cooperation and support of the five MCROs who prepared the staff for the competition.
“I am proud for the teamwork of the two LCRO participants who humbly unveiled their expertise in the field of Civil Registration and who bravely accepted the challenge to represent Guimaras in the Regional Quiz Bee contest after having won the provincial elimination round,” Losare said.
