‘Jilted’ rookie cop roams around Boracay in undies

Purportedly jilted by his fiancée, a rookie policeman was believed to have gone into blue funk.

The cop allegedly sneaked out of the barracks at Cagban Port in Barangay Manoc-Manoc, Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan wearing only his underwear.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Pablito, Malay police chief, did not reveal his subordinate’s identity, except that he is a patrolman in his mid 20s and a native of Negros Occidental province.

The incident happened afternoon of April 12, 2020.

“His classmates came to the rescue and tried to restrain him,” Pablito said.

But the newbie cop allegedly tried to resist and insisted that he wanted to go home.

He was immediately brought to the police station where a physician was called to attend to him.

Medyo agitated sya. Dahil nagwawala siya, tinurukan siya ng pampakalma,” Pablito said.

When asked what could have triggered the policeman’s apparent depression, Pablito said that he was only informed that the man was supposed to marry his girlfriend.

But the latter allegedly called off the engagement.

Pablito said he was not aware of the report that the woman left the policeman for another policeman.

But some reports had it that the policeman also ran out of his quarters on the evening of April 11 without any clothes on.

His classmates immediately ran after him and led him back inside.

It was gathered that the policeman has been with the Malay Police Station for several months already.

Friends and colleagues described him as melancholic.

He intimated to friends that he allegedly suffers from a heart ailment and that he wanted to resign.

Since Sunday, the Malay Rural Health physician has been checking on his condition.

“His status is restricted. He’s at the headquarters being observed and is being guarded by his fellow policemen,” Pablito said.

If his condition doesn’t improve, “we might refer him to the mental health institution in Pototan, Iloilo,” Pablito said.
