A fish port worker was arrested in an anti-illegal drugs operation evening of July 12, 2020 in Carles, Iloilo.

Steven Beliran, 25, was arrested in a buy-bust operation 6 pm of Sunday at Barangay Cabilao Pequeño.

Beliran, a resident of Barangay Bancal, Carles, allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer.

When frisked after his arrest, Beliran yielded six more sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P35,000, personnel belongings, P2,400 cash including the marked money, and a Rusi motorcycle.

Police Captain Francis Albert Fortunado, Carles police chief, said Beliran is a newly identified drug personality.

Police have been tracking him down for months, but he momentarily stopped selling drugs when the province was placed under the enhanced community quarantine.

Fortunado said the suspect had difficulty getting his drug supply from Capiz because of travel restrictions.

“It was his first arrest for illegal drugs,” he said.

Beliran is now detained at the Carles Police Station lock-up cell and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
