After showing flashes of brilliance in the preliminary rounds of the first Online Daedo Open European Poomsae Championships, Ilongga Angelie Marie B. Perillo advanced to the semifinals.

The prized jin under the Alan Diasnes gym – supervised and mentored by former Philippine Team National Poomsae training pool member coach Flora Navales, cruised through the prelims and executed her two Poomsae acts well.

Out of the 118 Cadet Black Belt Females, 45 of them qualified for the semifinals round. The group will then be further trimmed by half to determine who advances to the finals.

These 118 Black Belts were divided into four courts, court A, B, C, and D, with Perillo ranking 14th in court D securing her seat in the semis.

The rankings were based on the average scores for the two Poomsae acts each cadet performed with Perillo sporting a score of 6.350.

“I want to congratulate her for advancing to the semifinals, the fight was tough and the opponents were skilled too. But I know she gave her best and for me she’s already a champion, not just as an athlete but a person, at a young age she shows courage and empowered the athletes especially the women,” said coach Navales in an exclusive interview with the Daily Guardian.
