A 34-year-old housewife from Iloilo province officially took home the more than P400 million jackpot prize in the GrandLotto 6/55, according to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
The lucky bettor claimed her total jackpot prize last July 25, 2022 from the PCSO main office at Shaw Boulevard Mandaluyong City. She claimed her prize 16 days after the draw on July 9, 2022.
The Ilongga housewife bet on the winning combination of 02 – 18 – 49 – 07 – 19 – 47 via lucky pick. Lucky pick or LP is generated by the betting machine which chooses the bettor’s number combination.
“Sabi po ng asawa ko try ko daw po tumaya ng isa lang na lucky pick para maiba naman, kung swerte ka talaga mananalo ka kahit LP,” she said in a report published in the official website of PCSO.
She shared that she feared for the safety of their family. Hence, it took her more than two weeks to finally decide to claim the prize.
“Mas nauna po yung kaba at takot ko po kesa sa tuwa dahil naisip ko yung kaligtasan namin mag-asawa kaya po inabot ng 2 weeks bago kami nag-desisyon na kuhanin ang napanalunan naming premyo. For our safety na din po.”
The lucky bettor added that she plans to put-up her own business in Iloilo using her winnings while part of it will be donated to church and some charity institutions.
“Bilang pasasalamat po sa Diyos dahil sa biyayang ipinagkaloob niya, magbibigay po ako sa aming simbahan at mag-donate din po ako sa mga charity centers and foundations na tumutulong sa mga kapos-palad,” she said teary-eyed.
According to PCSO, lotto jackpot prizes can be claimed only from the PCSO main office.
Upon claiming, the winner must present the winning ticket and two valid government IDs.
Based on Republic Act 1169, the lotto ticket has a one-year validity from the date of the draw. Unclaimed prizes after one year will be forfeited.
Under the Tax Reform Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law, a 20% percent tax is automatically deducted from prizes above 10,000.00. (DG)
