Iloilo town imposes ECQ on 12 critical areas amid spike of Covid-19

Twelve barangays identified as critical zone areas in the town of San Joaquin in Iloilo province were placed under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) for two weeks due to a spike in Covid-19 cases.

The local government unit (LGU) of San Joaquin in its official Facebook page identified the 12 critical zone areas with high Covid-19 cases.

Based on the resolutions passed by the Sangguniang Bayan (SB), the following areas were placed under ECQ from August 26 to September 9Purok I Poblacion (43 cases); Purok III, Poblacion (8 cases); Purok IV, Poblacion (23 cases); Brgy. Sinogbuhan (12 cases); Brgy. Lawigan (28 cases); Brgy. Cata-an (32 cases); Brgy. Balabago (19 cases); Brgy. Tiolas (45 cases); Brgy. Sta. Rita (24 cases); Brgy. Tapikan (7 cases); and Brgy. Bolbogan (7 cases).

Meanwhile, Brgy. Amboyu-an, which recorded 11 Covid-19 cases, was also placed under ECQ from August 26 to Sept. 9.

Entry and exit of residents in the critical zone areas are highly discouraged. Exempted are members of the Municipal Health Emergency Team (MHERT), Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (BHERT) and Contact Tracing Team.

Under the ECQ, curfew will be imposed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. A liquor ban will also be implemented.

Barangays are also required to establish control points in their areas to monitor the entry and exit of residents.

As of August 29, the town of San Joaquin has 1,000 total registered cases with 361 active cases, 624 recoveries and 15 Covid-19 deaths based on the data from the Iloilo Provincial Health Office. (ERS)
