The Iloilo Mark V. Pinggol (MVP) taekwondo gym ended 2022 with a bang after raking all the championship trophies in the 2022 Regional Age Group Poomsae & Kyorugi Taekwondo Championships held at the Passi City Arena last December 17.
After a dominant outing during the SMART MVP Sports Foundation National Age-Group Taekwondo Championships last November 19, 2022, the widely-renowned taekwondo gym wasn’t done and cemented itself as one of the best gyms in Western Visayas after another stellar result.
The Iloilo MVP taekwondo gym collected a total of 57 gold medals: 21 came from the poomsae category while the 36 golds coming from the kyorugi event.
Aside from their impressive gold medal count, the taekwondo gym also nabbed a total of 23 silvers and 10 bronze medals.
Iloilo MVP’s stellar outing in Passi City helped them garner the overall championship trophies in both poomsae and kyorugi events.
Leading the list of the champions in the poomsae category are Alicia Sophia Gutierrez, Fritzjerald Encanto, Shikyna Lunar, Elisha Miela Paradero, Sirhc Einreb Damaolao, Matt Daniel Pranger, Margarette Gem Obsequio, Jeremi Panaguiton, and Trisha Derren Cayanan.
Meanwhile, notable names who won gold medals in the kyorugi event are Ella Mae Turija, Recca Grafil, Alleina Nestley Gajasan, Kylie Ellise Olivares, Athena Persephone Evangelista, Adrian Joseph Gajasan III, and Rhyden Figueroa.
Poomsae silver medalists under the MVP gym are Jenella Ashley Tionko, Cleo Aliyah Asumbra, Nieka Thalia Guevara, Joannah Donguila, and Adenny Lourl Rivera.
Those who took home the silver medal in the kyorugi category are Gian Pomperada, Andre Jules Jordan, Mikka Mahinay, Charee Mari Florence Genecela, Jullia Ilustre, Nathan Xander Sirilan, Stephen Lunar, Vann Denrei Arabang, and Calvin Avery Valencia.
Lindsy Lorraine Degayo, one of the best jins under the MVP program, won the Best Player in Female Poomsae award while Prince Ivan Barcemo got the Best Player in Male kyorugi award.
