The Iloilo Mark V. Pinggol (MVP) taekwondo gym is back competing and is dominant as ever after ruling the Kahilwayan Taekwondo Championships held at the municipality of Santa Barbara, province of Iloilo.

After an award-hauling 2022 SMART/MVPSF PTA National Interschool Poomsae competition in Manila, the Iloilo MVP jins stole the limelight and raked a total of 57 medals in the 1st Mayor Dennis S. Superficial “Cry of Sta. Barbara”.

The widely-renowned taekwondo gym based in Iloilo won a total of 34 gold medals, 14 silvers, and nine bronze medals.

Iloilo MVP gym then put the cherry on top after being hailed as the tournament’s overall champion in the poomsae grade school boys, poomsae grade school girls, kyorugi grade school boys, and kyorugi junior male categories.

This has been one of the winningest tournaments the Pinggol-led gym had this 2022 and is looking to add more achievements before the year ends.

In an exclusive interview with Mr. Pinggol, he said that the team is currently preparing for another national taekwondo event to be held in Manila sanctioned by the PTA.

After their Manila stint, the MVP jins will return to Iloilo and will prepare for two more local taekwondo tournaments.

Pinggol shared that the MVP jins will only have a short time of rest after their national competition and will go straight to practice for the tournament in Capiz this December 3, 2022.

The award-winning coach then added that the team will travel to Passi on December 17 which will most likely wrap up their last set of competitions this year.
