Iloilo MVP gym makes waves in national taekwondo competition

The Iloilo Mark V. Pinggol (MVP) taekwondo gym is currently on an unstoppable streak after stealing the limelight during the SMART MVP Sports Foundation National Age-Group Taekwondo Championships last November 19, 2022.

Fresh off a dominant outing at the Kahilwayan Taekwondo Championships held at the municipality of Santa Barbara, the MVP jins showed consistency and discipline and turned heads during the two-day prestigious event in Pasay.

The widely-renowned taekwondo gym based in Iloilo City collected a total of 27 medals: 12 golds, seven silvers, and eight bronze medals.

During the first day of the tournament, the MVP jins won three golds, two silvers, and two bronze medals and ramped the intensity up on Day 2 after bagging nine golds, five silvers, and six bronze medals.

Leading the list of the gold medal winners are Adenny Lourl Rivera, Reyven Ken Decolongon, Mc Greg Alfonso, Calvin Avery Valencia, Cleo Alexandria Evangelista, Essence Estelle Sinoy, Fritzjerald Encanto, Elisha Miela Paradero, Sirhc Einreb Damaolao, Lindsy Lorraine Degayo, Jenella Ashley Tionko, Margarette Gem Obsequio, Charee Marie Genecela, Trisha Derren Cayanan, and Jeremi Panaquiton.

Silver medalists during the tournament were Gabriel Dominic Capadosa, Shikyna Lunar, Phoebe Margaret Capadosa, Kylie Olivares, Sophia Marie Bautista, and George Fredrick Allan.

Completing the MVP jins who won medals are Alyanah Julienne Tionko, Sophia Grace Go, Phil Caleb Regalado, Julianna Martha Uy, Andria Margaret Palabrica, Geon Ivan Dulaca, and Justin Adrian Apura.

After their Manila stint, the MVP jins will return to their intensive training camp again and will prepare for two more local taekwondo tournaments.

Pinggol shared that the MVP jins will only have a short time of rest after their national competition and will go straight to practice for the tournament in Capiz this December 3, 2022.

The award-winning coach then added that the team will travel to Passi on December 17 which will most likely wrap up their last set of competitions this year.
