The Iloilo Kisela Knights have notched their fourth win in a row during Day 6 of the ongoing 2022 Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) tournament.

Iloilo had two dominant performances against the Zamboanga Sultans, 13.5-7.5, and the Tacloban Vikings, 17.5-3.5, and is still undefeated in their past two PCAP outings.

It was a chess clinic for the Kisela Knights during their Zamboanga clash as they only managed to drop three playing boards out of the 14.

Iloilo immediately jumped ahead 5.5-1.5 in the blitz category after winning the first five boards while clinching a tie in the seventh.

Zamboanga tried to fight back in the rapid category but the prowess of Iloilo’s core, Karl Viktor Ochoa, WFM Cherry Ann Mejia, and NM Fritz Bryan Porras, lifted them in the clutch to secure the win.

The Kisela Knights’ onslaught continued against Tacloban and were dealt with one of the largest beatings of the tournament so far.

Tacloban had to catch up early in the match after Iloilo put them in a difficult position in the blitz category where they only won a single playing board compared to Kisela Knights’ five.

Iloilo then closed the show and dealt the finishing blow after ending the rapid category on a six-board winning streak.

With the back-to-back wins, the Kisela Knights have taken over the no. 1 spot in the Southern division with 158 points behind Davao with 154 points.
