ILOILO BUSINESS WEEK 2019 OPENS AT SM CITY ILOILO

The Iloilo Business Week 2019 formally opened last August 12 at SM City Iloilo, located in the central business hub of Iloilo City in Mandurriao district.

Mayor Jerry P. Treñas graced the opening of the event spearheaded by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce Iloilo Chapter, the Iloilo Business Club (IBC), Iloilo Multi-sectoral Business Organization, and Iloilo Economic Development (ILED) Foundation Inc., organized the promotional initiative which is now in its second year.

Dubbed ‘Level Up Iloilo’, The Iloilo Business Week is a major event of the 82nd Charter Day celebration, which the city is celebrating until August 25.

“Innovate Iloilo” campaign was launched August 13 to boost talents, capabilities, and facilities to become a leading innovation hub in the country. An innovation roadmap considered to be the first in the country was crafted in consonance with the Philippine Innovation Act recently signed by President Rodrigo Duterte.

The event has solicited multi-stakeholders support of the industry, private sector, universities, local government units, and national government agencies including the Department of Science and Technology, Department of Trade and Industry, National Economic and DevelopmentAuthority, Department of Tourism and Department of Agriculture.

In the afternoon of August 14, an Economic and Business Outlook 2019 was held at SM Cinema 6. Mr. RoniloBalbieran, of REID Foundation, Inc., Mr. RJ Ledesma of Go Negosyo and Mr. JoseJaffyAzzaraga of PwC Isla Lipana and Co. will be the guest speakers who will share their insights.

A Trade, Travel, Food and Fiber Fair runs until Aug. 18 featuring arts and crafts, delicacies and fashion products. The endeavor aims to enhance economic promotions and great potentials of the city and province as an emerging investment destination.
