The IDP Story–IDPistorya

Igbaras is our canvas, and IDP is our masterpiece.

We look at tomorrow and see unlimited frontiers waiting to be explored. Our most stunning waterfall is not yet discovered, the last of our hidden caves are not yet revealed.

Our most captivating stories are still unpublished, our greatest invention is waiting to be conceived. We are yet to unleash the collective potential of our creative geniuses together with our steadfast convictions. The Igbarasnon Epic, the Igbarasnon Adventure has only just begun.

IDP is the epitome of the coming of the Age of the Igbarasnon.

IDP, or Igbaras, Dutang Pinalangga, started out as a dream by one Igbarasnon residing in Los Angeles, California. On March 20, 2019, IDP was finally founded to unite the Igbarasnons from all over the world with a common purpose: TO HELP THE UNDERPRIVILEGED KASIMANWA.

Currently, IDP has over 9,000 members, its scope as far as the internet can reach. And the number is still growing day after day.

IDP bridges Igbarasnon professionals from the locality to Igbarasnons working abroad. Local school teachers, LGU workers and NGOs  together with the Igbarasnon community from all over the world exert concerted efforts to implement various IDP programs and projects to benefit especially the needy and poverty-stricken segment of the population.

IDP serves as a Foundation or a charity institution through which its generous members offer financial assistance to the  Igbarasnon indigents, especially those who are suffering from illnesses that require hospitalization. It provides funding to help reduce the medical expenses, thus lessen the financial burden of its beneficiaries. It therefore provides a mechanism for philanthropists to share their blessings with their less fortunate kasimanwa.

IDP also offers a Scholarship Program, which is an instrument for its generous members to support the underprivileged but deserving students of Igbaras National High School. The scholarship program helps them achieve their dreams by completing their secondary education, paving the way to a brighter future.

Furthermore, IDP, through the “IDPagpalangga” Program gives joy to the elderly people of Igbaras who either live alone or lack family support by providing a platform to contact their relatives here and abroad. They are also become part of the list of beneficiaries wherein benefactors can contact them directly for any assistance that they can extend.

During this time of pandemic, the IDP COVID Relief Operation continues to give hope to those in need, particularly to the elderly, persons with disabilities (PWD), and with special needs. Its Igbaras Strong Campaign became the rallying cry for hope as it disseminates information on how to stop the spread of the COVID 19 virus. In fact, one prominent IDPian Nurse in the United States generously shared her countless hours to create informative video contents to inculcate awareness on the impact of COVID 19 and how to combat it. The said videos are widely received by not only the Igbarasnons but also the whole Ilonggo population.

On the other hand, IDP features the Igbaras National High School publication “Nadsadjan Ripples”, giving aspiring journalists a chance to showcase their talents in writing. The program is called Igbaras 5029®, taken from the zip code of the town . IDP is also a source of information about the humble town of Igbaras. It talks about current events and recent issues that stimulates critical thinking and promotes open-mindedness and self-expression without prejudice to the rights of all its members.

IDP is a treasure trove of information about its past–its traditions, its native dialect (kinaray-a), and Igbarasnon nostalgia. Its membership ranges from teens to those in their eighties, cutting across generations. It is a place where Igbarasnons learn from each other, be it by sharing of time-honored Igbarasnon recipes of local cuisines we fervently long for, popular but long-forgotten folklore, and even the antiquated karay-a words and phrases.

Finally, IDP is a virtual Home of Igbarasnons living abroad. It is a platform for long-lost relatives and long-lost friends to find each other and reconnect. It promotes friendship and camaraderie, and it is a remedy for homesickness. It is a place for discovering new friends, learning from each other, and for nourishing the spirit.

As we celebrate our second year IDPiansary, IDP is resolved to face our problems. Our most exciting journeys still await. Our biggest victories are still to come. We have not yet begun to dream. We must choose whether we are defined by our differences — or whether we dare to transcend them. We must choose whether we will squander our heritage— or we will proudly declare that we are Igbarasnons. We do the incredible. We defy the impossible. We conquer the unknown. This is the time to re-ignite the Igbarasnon imagination. This is the time to search for the tallest summit and set our sights on the brightest star.
