ICPO to cease issuance of local police clearance

The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) on Wednesday announced that it would stop issuing local police clearances effective immediately.

Instead of a local police clearance, the ICPO advocated for the national police clearance which can be secured from the following stations:

* Iloilo City Police Station 1 (City Proper);

* Iloilo City Police Station 3 (Jaro); and

* Iloilo City Police Station 5 (Mandurriao).

The PNP has been pushing for the national police clearance after the operationalization of the National Police Clearance System (NPCS), the PNP’s centralized information system for crime-related record checking nationwide.

Major Shella Mae Sangrines, ICPO spokesperson, said the National Police Clearance (NPC) is more inclusive since it incorporates the PNP’s electronic blotters and electronic warrant.

The NPC is considered an official document that certifies the existence or non-existence of a person’s record in any of the PNP crime-related databases.

“On the other hand, the local police clearance could only get a clean record at a certain municipality but it may not be consistent if requested in other areas,” she added.

The PNP began issuing national police clearance in 2016 by virtue of Department of the Interior and Local Government Order No. 2016-01.

For those who have questions or concerns, Sangrines said they could be reached through the ICPO’s Facebook account at Iloilo City Pulis Serbisyo Publiko.

For applicants, they are advised to bring any 2 of the following valid identification cards:

* Philippine Passport

* Driver’s License

* SSS Card

* GSIS Card

* UMID Card

* PRC ID

* OWWA ID

* BIR ID

* Senior Citizen’s ID Card

* Postal ID

* Voter’s ID

* OFW ID

* Diplomat ID

* IBP ID
