IBP-Capiz condemns ambush of human rights advocate lawyer

ROXAS CITY, Capiz- The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP-Capiz chapter) condemned the ambush on human rights advocate lawyer Cris Heredia together with her client and daughter Monday noon at Barangay Malapad Cogon, Sigma town.

In its official statement, the IBP-Capiz Chapter said the incident is a ‘detestable act’ which has no place in a democratic society like Philippines.

Because of this, the group called for prayers from its members and advised them to be alert always.

The group had asked authorities to thoroughly investigate the incident.

Heredia, 49, of Barangay Bolo, Roxas City, just came from a court hearing in Dao town when the gun attack happened.

Azarcon was with her daughter, Angelica Katrina Heredia, 26, and her client, Jimmy Dordas, 55, a government employee and resident of Barangay Batabat, Maayon, when the incident happened.
