HOLY WEEK 2019: PCG to strictly monitor vessels vs overloading

BACOLOD City – The head of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Negros Occidental said on April 3, 2019 that they will conduct strict monitoring of all vessels in the province during the observance of the Holy Week which begins on Easter Sunday, April 14.

Commander Ludovico Librilla Jr., PCG-Negros Occidental chief, said they will start setting up passenger assistance desks at various ports in the province as early as Saturday.

Librilla said they will also coordinate with the local police in securing the terminals, while PCG personnel will conduct routine checks on all vessels to make sure they are all seaworthy and not overloaded.

He also advised travellers to show up in the terminal a few hours before their scheduled departure.  Travellers should also avoid carrying contraband such as firearms, and bladed weapons.

Librilla said they expect the number of passengers in various ports in Negros Occidental to increase before Holy Thursday, April 18.
