PH weightlifting pride Hidilyn Diaz is aiming for nothing short but a gold medal in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games to further increase her bid in the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

With Diaz bagging the gold medal in the SEA Games, her chances of qualifying for the 2020 Olympics will improve.

Diaz’s rise to stardom began after capturing the 2016 Rio Olympics silver medal and the 2018 Asian Games gold.

Her consistency and steady improvement led her to elevate her performance to another level, improving her podium finishes year after year.

Besides the mission of qualifying for the Olympics, Diaz’s main quest is to also win her first SEA Games gold medal.

With the international accolades Diaz has in her resume, a SEA Games gold will fit nicely with her other medals.

Diaz has yet to win a gold medal in the SEA Games since debuting for the national team last 2005.
