ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Hatred and old grudges might be the motive for a 23-year-old man to shoot dead his own aunt Wednesday at Sitio Pudian in Brgy. Tuburan, Maayon, Capiz.
Cherry Deocampo of said place was declared dead on arrival in a hospital after she was allegedly shot by her nephew Ariel Deocampo while riding on a motorcycle.
Vilma Deocampo told the police that before the incident happened, her sister Cherry and Ariel were together in the house at Crossing Bangkalo at about 11:30 am.
The victim allegedly maligned and uttered bad words against the nephew.
A few minutes later, Cherry went out to bring her grandchild to school on board a motorcycle.
While on her way home at Sitio Pudian, Ariel allegedly waited for her by the roadside at around 12:15 pm and shot his aunt twice.
The victim was hit on the back portion of her body.
According to witness Nelfa Lagdamin, she heard the first gunfire and a woman shouting in pain. She then saw Ariel holding a firearm and shot the victim again.
Police launched a manhunt operation against the suspect who fled towards Brgy. Tuburan also in Maayon town.
Vilma confirmed to the police that the two held grudges against each other.
