BACOLOD City – Police have yet to determine the motive in the killing of a hacienda watchman who was shot by his unidentified companion while they were riding a motorcycle in Barangay Minapasok, Calatrava, Negros Occidental last Wednesday.

The remains of Ely Marcellana, 45, of Barangay Hinab-ongan, were found by barangay officials the following day.

Police Major Lumyaen Lidawan, Calatrava town police chief, said Marcellana was shot by his companion at close range upon reaching the crime scene.

The victim suffered gunshot wounds in the head and face, while the perpetrator fled on board the victim’s driven motorcycle, Lidawan said.

Police recovered from the scene two cartridges of alleged .9mm caliber ammunition.

Lidawan said they have no lead yet on the identity of the gunman.

He said the victim was not related to Jerol Marcellana, who was also gunned down by an unidentified person in Barangay Banago here last Wednesday.
