A habal-habal (motorcycle taxi) driver was gunned down by a still unidentified assailant afternoon of Aug 7, 2022 in a mountainous village in Ajuy, Iloilo.
Rommel Biscay, 22, a resident of NHA Village in Barangay Adcadarao, Ajuy, suffered multiple gunshot injuries on his body and head.
Lieutenant Jojo Octavo, Ajuy deputy police chief, said a motorist saw Biscay’s bullet-riddled body on the roadside at Sitio Malbog, Barangay Tubogan, Ajuy past 3 p.m. Sunday.
He reported the incident to a village official who later called the police station.
Residents surmised that Biscay may have been killed around 2:30 p.m.
“It was during that time that they heard successive gunfire,” Octavo said.
Prior to that, the suspect allegedly brought a passenger to a village adjacent to Tubogan.
Octavo said the victim may have been waylaid on his way back to the town proper.
“The gunman could have positioned himself and waited as he (victim) was navigating a downhill portion of the village,” he said.
Octavo said they still have no person of interest behind Biscay’s killing.
The victim had no police records and had not been involved in any incident in the past.
Octavo said they are still verifying from the victim’s family and friends if he mentioned of any enemy.
