Gun raid only yields two bullets

Only two bullets were seized in a gun raid on a 40-year-old man’s house in Mina, Iloilo early morning of Aug 18, 2022.

Police believed that Marvin Alegoria may have kept his alleged unlicensed firearms in a different place.

“Or he could have sneaked it out before we got a chance to scour his house,” Lieutenant Rogie Panela, Mina police chief, said.

Members of Mina Municipal Police Station stormed Alegoria’s house at Barangay Agmanaphao around 5:55 a.m. of Thursday to implement Search Warrant No 22-218 for alleged violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).

The raiding team only recovered two ammunitions for a 12-gauge shotgun in a sink.

Panela said they conducted the gun raid after a series of indiscriminate gun-firing incidents that were linked to Alegoria.

“These incidents allegedly occurred when he’s under the influence of liquor,” Panela said.

In one incident, police responded to a vehicular incident involving Alegoria and his motorcycle.

“We were informed that he was speeding because village officials were running after him because he reportedly fired a gun,” Panela said.

But at that time, no firearm was recovered from the suspect’s possession,

Police said they would still file a case against Alegoria for violation of RA 10591 despite that only two bullets were seized.
