Gun ban violator nabbed after nine years of hiding

ROXAS CITY, Capiz— A man from Mambusao, Capiz was arrested for violating the election gun ban on May 26, 2020 after nine years of hiding in Iloilo province.

Elvin Gregory, 34, of Brgy. Cala-agus Mambusao town did not resist when the police served his warrant of arrest.

Gregory was arrested at the house of a relative in Barangay Lanag, Tigbauan, Iloilo.

The warrant was issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Danilo P. Galvez of Branch 24, Iloilo City dated November 18, 2011.

Gregory is charged for carrying an unlicensed firearm during the May 2010 elections.

He is presently detained at the Mambusao Municipal Police Station and will be brought to the court of origin for proper disposition.

Meanwhile, a 59-year-old man was arrested for illegal possession of firearms.

Juanito Jalongong was collared by police Tuesday morning at his house in Brgy. Sinabsaban, Cuartero, Capiz.

The suspect was charged for violation of Section 28 in relation to R.A 10591 (Comprehensive Law of Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).

The warrant for his arrest was issued Roxas City RTC Branch 18 Judge Ignacio Alajar on March 16, 2020 with a P200,000 bail.

The suspect is detained at the police station of Cuartero.
