Guimaras inaugurates new facilities for hospital

Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Provincial Hospital (DCGNPH) located at San Miguel, Jordan, Guimaras inaugurated its Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Pulmonary Unit, Blood Station and CT Scan Department on August 30, 2022.

Vice Governor Atty. John Edward G. Gando described the event a historic moment for Guimaras.

Board member Felipe Hilan A. Nava, chairperson of the Committee on Health, said the operationalization of these facilities is a step closer to achieving the goal of making DCGNPH a Level 2 hospital.

In his inspirational message, Governor JC Rahman A. Nava, MD said that the situation of the hospital was not sustainable when he first served as governor of the province in 1998.

The facility was converted into an economic enterprise and his administration initiated the needed reforms and DCGNPH was allocated a budget.

The governor said that these hospital improvements set the beginning of the fulfillment of his dreams for the province.

The commitment and enthusiasm of the people working at the DCGNPH are the key factors for this significant accomplishment, Gov. Nava.

Nava bared more plans for Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Provincial Hospital that include bigger laboratory, bigger Emergency and Operating Rooms, another extension wing for the hospital which the construction will begin next year and a possible five-storey DCGNPH by 2024.

Dr. Inocensio Lopez, OIC chief of hospital, praised another milestone that the Province of Guimaras has achieved in its aim to provide the people of Guimaras affordable and quality healthcare services.
