ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Employees and old-age pensioners from whose home address and work address are in President Roxas, Capiz may now access a calamity loan from the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS).

GSIS-Roxas Branch Information Officer Maria Victoria Bargas said that their loan window for calamity loan has been opened after the President Roxas local government unit has put the town under the state of calamity due to dengue.

“All GSIS members and old age pensioners are allowed to apply for calamity loan provided that their home address or work address is under the President Roxas Zip code,” she said.

Bargas added that “all active members with Umid card can apply for Emergency loan thru Kiosks.”

Likewise, all active members with temporary cards and old age pensioners can apply thru Over the Counter (OTC) at GSIS branch here.

According to Bargas, the loanable amount for those members with existing emergency loan accounts is P40,000, however, any remaining balance from the previous calamity loan will be deducted.

“For those with no existing emergency loan account, the loanable amount is P20,000,” Bargas said.

She said that the amount for the said loan will be credited to the member’s or pensioner’s account within three to five banking days after confirmation or approval of the Agency Authorized Officer (AAO).

The deadline for application of the emergency loan is August 28, 2019.

On the other hand, the GSIS here is waiting for the approval by the GSIS Board for the opening of calamity loan window to the employees and old age pensioners whose work address or place of residence is in Pontevedra or Sigma following the declaration of state of calamity of said areas.

The significant increase in the number of dengue cases in Capiz gave rise to the declaration by President Roxas, Sigma and Pontevedra towns under the state of calamity. (PIA)
