Former national team member and PBA free agent Greg Slaughter expressed his openness to the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) and said that he is willing to render his services to the 2022 Gilas Pilipinas roster.

In one of his Instagram posts, Slaughter tagged the official SBP account and said: “I am available and been working with 16 year NBA champion @boysongary. I would love to be included in the National Team Pools!”

Slaughter was having a career resurgence with the NorthPort Batang Pier after the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel traded him away for Christian Standhardinger.

During his NorthPort tenure, Slaughter averaged an impressive 14.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game and formed a power duo with Robert Bolick.

However, the seven-foot-two big man refused to sign an extension contract with NorthPort and is still a free agent.

Before his surprising Instagram post, Slaughter was caught watching from the stands of the Gilas Pilipinas-New Zealand game and was in full support of the national team.

Slaughter last saw action for Gilas three years ago when he played during the Southeast Asian Games and helped the Philippines win a gold medal.

Initially, Gilas head coach and program director Chot Reyes already passed his proposed roster for the upcoming Hanoi SEAG which is still up for approval by the PBA and commissioner Willie Marcial.

Only time will tell if Slaughter makes a stunning return to Gilas Pilipinas.
