Grandma, 108, gets COVID-19 vaccine

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 108-year-old lady was vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Carolina Badana of Brgy. Yatingan, Pontevedra, Capiz could be the oldest person so far in the province of Capiz who was inoculated against the virus.

According to Municipal Health Officer Dr. Marizen Nolasco, Badana did not feel any side effect after she was vaccinated last July 27, 2021.

Vaccination of senior citizens and persons with co-morbidities is ongoing in the town.

Meanwhile, the Capiz Provincial Health Office on Wednesday logged one case each of the Alpha (B.1.1.7) and Delta (B.1.617.2) variants of COVID-19.

The results were released by the UP-Philippine Genome Center through the Department of Health (DOH) Western Visayas Center for Health Development on August 23, 2021.

The Alpha Variant was detected in a 16-year-old male resident from Dumarao, Capiz who was a close contact of a confirmed case and has no travel history outside Dumarao since June 2021. He recovered on August 13, 2021.

The Delta Variant case was detected in an 84-year-old male resident of Panay, Capiz. He recovered from the ailment on August 13, 2021.
