More than 5,000 job opportunities will be available today, Sept 27, 2019, in the Government Job Fair organized by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Region 6.

He said more or less 200 vacancies are available in the government, 600 for local employment, and 5,000 vacancies for overseas employment.

“The Government Job Fair is a strategy to market highly qualified civil service eligible to government agencies, make accessible, transparent, and open vacancies in the government for the public, and place talented graduates and job seekers in the government service,” said Jamorin.

He added that it is also open to private companies that are willing to provide employment opportunities to highly competent job seekers who are eligible to work in the government service.

The job fair is part of the activities lined-up for the celebration of the 119th anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service in Western Visayas. It will follow the four-day Government Express at the Mall (GEM) which opened on Monday, September 23, also at SM City Iloilo Northwing Activity Center

A total of 23 government agencies participated in the GEM which serves as one-stop shop of frontline services, an action center, where queries, complaints and feedback can be entertained and immediately acted upon and an information center where these agencies can disseminate their key programs.

Regional Director Nelson Sarmiento of CSC 6 said the Government Express at the Mall is one way the government can reach out and give fast and immediate service to the people in his message during the opening on Monday.

Sarmiento said “with the Government Express at the Mall and Job Fair, we hope it’s a modest contribution to strengthen and increase our people expectations of what public service is all about.”
