ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 56-year-old food vendor denied that he was into the illegal drugs trade.

Rodolfo Dionesio of Brgy. Tanque also denied owning the suspected illegal drugs recovered by police from his possession in a drug sting operation Friday evening in front of Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital here.

While he admitted using drugs for 10 years, Dionesio said he never sold shabu or any other illicit drugs.

The Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) of the Roxas City PNP and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested Dionesio.

Lt. Col Aron Palomo, Roxas City police chief, said they recovered from the suspect six sachets of suspected shabu and P1,000 marked money.

Dionesio tried to escape from police and punched one of the operatives while another police officer was bitten by his pet dog.

Despite his resistance, the suspect was cornered and arrested.

Palomo said it took several test buys before they carried out the bust.

The suspect admitted using illegal drugs which was given to him by his tricycle driver friends for his personal use only.

He said the recovered illegal items were allegedly planted by the police.

Dionesio is presently detained at the Roxas City police station and will be charged for violations of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
