BACOLOD City – Forty-six pupils of Ma-ao Elementary School in Bago City, Negros Occidental were hospitalized due to food poisoning Thursday.

Police Lieutenant Leomel Adolacion, deputy chief of Bago City Police Station, said the children ate spoiled spaghetti purportedly bought from an eatery for their Christmas party.

Adolacion said the food probably was spoiled because it was covered while still hot.

The children complained of feeling unwell minutes after eating the food.

“They felt dizzy and they suffered stomachache. They were all rushed to a hospital,” he added.

Police Major John Joel Batusbatusan, city police chief, said 13 pupils are still confined at the hospital as of Friday noon.

Batusbatusan said the incident was unintentional.
