BACOLOD City – Police arrested a fish vendor and a high school student in separate buy-bust operations here and in Negros Occidental last Tuesday.

In Silay City, Renato Espinosa, 38, of Barangay Lantad was nabbed at the city’s public market in Barangay 2 after he allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu for P2,100 to a police agent.

Police seized from him 15 grams of suspected shabu worth P102,000.

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old Grade 12 student from Barangay Tabunan, Bago City was also apprehended after police confiscated from him 10 grams of suspected marijuana worth P1,500 and the P300 marked money at a vacant lot in Purok San Luis, Barangay Sum-ag here.

Police Captain Rondyl Tapang, head of Police Station 9, said they acted on the complaint of some teachers regarding the alleged rampant selling of suspected marijuana in a public high school.

“Mabaho daw marijuana ang CR, may gabaligya daw pero indi lang ma identify, and they suspect na one of the students,” Tapang said.

Police then conducted validation and monitoring, leading to the arrest of the high school student, whose name was withheld by the police.

Tapang said the student allegedly started engaging in the selling of marijuana since Grade 9, adding that his customers were only not limited to students, but also e-bike and tricycle drivers.

“Kis-a mga tambay man dira sa lugar,” the station commander said.

Tapang said they are probing the source of the illegal drugs, which is just within the city.

Tapang said that this may serve as a stern warning to students to never get involved in illegal drugs, or they may end up in jail.

Drug charges are being readied against the two arrested drug suspects.
