Firefly Brigade in Iloilo

FIREFLY Brigade fellow incorporator and current president Jack Yabut will finally arrive in Iloilo City after pedalling for 14 days covering 1,488 kilometers from Baguio via Bicol and the Visayas islands.

Joining him are Ed Leuenberger of the Davao All Terrain Bike Association (DATBA), Arvin Fiestas of the Scout City Road and Mountain Bikers (SCRAMB) from Catarman, North Samar and Leonilo Boy Garin of the Samar Mountain Bike Association (SAMBA).

Local Ilonggo bikers led by iFOLD will welcome them in a “Salubungan” at 6 p.m. of October 24 at the Gaisano ICC Bridge.

Salubungan will then proceed to the Sambag bike lane where Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas will welcome the bikers before they do a tour of the city. While in Iloilo, Yabut will meet with local bike advocates to discuss the coming Tour of the Fireflies Iloilo slated on November 17.

They will take the ferry the next day for Bacolod and resume pedalling in route to Davao.

As per this route they will cover 2,100 kms from Baguio to Davao. Firefly Brigade is the biggest bike org in the country founded in 1999 and is the organizer of the annual Tour of the Fireflies.

The November 17 Tour of the Fireflies Iloilo will be the first in the city and will synchronize with the most awaited Manila Fun Ride.

FitStop and iFOLD are sponsoring the Iloilo segment of Yabut and company’s Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao journey on bicycles.
