Fire trees, coconuts planted on floodway, coastline

FLOWERY fire trees were planted along floodway in Jaro district while coconuts were planted along coasts of Molo and Arevalo districts in Iloilo City on July 13, 2019.

A total of 2,855 trees were planted by 2,695 multi-sectoral participants from government offices, academe, barangays, business, civic groups, media, and non-government organizations.

The cleanup drive collected 2,700 kilograms of garbage.

Mayor Jerry P. Treñas thanked stakeholders for supporting the efforts to sustain the cleaning and greening program to cushion the impact of climate change characterized by drought and flooding and global warming or hot weather.

The areas covered were Circumferential Road stretching from Balabago, Buhang, Lanit, Ungka, Hibao-an to bypass road in Mandurriao and relocation sites in Lanit, Jaro and So-oc, Arevalo.

Treñas also encouraged Ilonggos to continue planting in their backyards and communities. (Iloilo City PIO)
