BACOLOD City – Two persons suffered injuries in a residential fire that gobbled an estimated P1.5 million worth of properties at Barangay Villamonte here yesterday.

Wounded were Sharrah Mae Avila, 30, who suffered minor burns in the left hand; and Imar Drilon, 36, who sustained multiple abrasion in the left shoulder and laceration in the left foot.

Legaspi said the fire originated from a two-storey house owned by Adella Penaflorida, particularly in a room on the second floor occupied by her grandson Jose Marie Abrico.

Legaspi said the house was partly built with concrete materials, but most of the structure was made of light materials.

“Medyo daan na siya abi na balay bala, pero mag-relatives man ang ga occupy,” he added.

The blaze immediately spread to two other neighboring houses owned by Ma. Trinidad Alfonso and Gertrudes Quebrar, which were damaged, Legaspi said.

The fire broke out around 7:25 a.m. and was declared fire out after almost an hour, destroying the house of Penaflorida.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has yet to determine the cause of fire.
