Filipino Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) living legend Eduard Folayang is no longer associated with the widely-renowned Team Lakay stable.

The ONE Fighting Championship former belt holder confirmed the latest development after posting a lengthy heartfelt message to Team Lakay on his social media account posted last March 9, 2023.

“But as the oft saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Sadly, and with heavy heart, my journey with Team Lakay has reached its final stretch. I believe there are still a few things I must accomplish in what remains in my active years as an athlete,” Folayang posted on his official Facebook account.

Folayang fought for Team Lakay for nearly two decades and was mentored by legendary mentor Mark Sangiao since the early 2000s.

Sangiao was the one who honed Folayang’s wushu skills, proof is his three gold medals in the Southeast Asian Games.

Folayang then entered the realm of professional MMA, making noise in the URCC league before taking his talents to ONE FC.

The wushu specialist was quick to make a name for himself in the promotion after outdueling Shinya Aoki to clinch the ONE lightweight championship belt.

“I extend my sincere and heartfelt gratitude to Team Lakay. I wish no less than the best for Coach Mark Sangiao and everyone under his wing. This is not a goodbye, but so long for now,” Folayang added.

As of now, Folayang is yet to announce if he will change his affiliation to a new MMA organization or if will he retire from professional competition.

“Eduard ‘The Landslide’ Folayang, wishing you all the best and good luck on your next venture and adventure,” said coach Sangiao.
