The Golden State Warriors’ championship defense isn’t off to a good start.

According to a report from The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Anthony Slater, and Marcus Thompson II, Golden State’s veteran power forward leader Draymond Green got into a physical altercation with upcoming star guard Jordan Poole during their practice.

The worse thing was that Green reportedly hit Poole after getting chest-to-chest while pushing and shoving each other.

The altercation was confirmed to stem from a heated verbal exchange between the two emotional stars which led to their practice skirmish.

Golden State was quick to end their training camp after the incident to try to cool things around the locker room and settle the tension between the two hoopers.

Previously, both Green and Poole always figured in several intense interactions during the course of the last NBA season where they won the title against the Boston Celtics.

Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports then confirmed that Green already apologized to his teammates and coaching staff after what he did.

However, Green together with some of his teammates exposed that there was a change in Poole’s behavior during the start of their training camp.

With only 10 days remaining until the deadline of contract finalization among the players, Poole is eligible for a five-year $186 million rookie extension deal but is yet to receive any confirmation from the Warriors’ management.

Meanwhile, Green, announced during the NBA Media Day that he will enter the upcoming season without a contract extension due to salary cap problems with his terms.

Despite Green’s apology, the Golden State front office is still considering disciplinary action against him for the altercation.
