BACOLOD City – Gossip kills.

A farmer was shot dead by another farmer at Sitio Cabaog-Baogan, Barangay Prosperidad, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental last Friday all because of gossiping.

The victim was identified as Susimo Rabanes, 40, of the said village.

Police Captain Ruby Aurita, public information officer of San Carlos City Police Station, said Rabanes was sitting on a chair and holding his child when the suspect identified as Richard Remunda arrived and allegedly shot him.

The victim succumbed to a gunshot wound in the chest, while his child was unharmed, Aurita said.

Police recovered from the scene a fired bullet of .45 caliber ammunition.

Aurita said Remunda held grudges against Rabanes’s nephew after they got involved in a hacking incident in December last year.

The suspect reportedly heard rumors that it was Rabanes who allegedly told his nephew to hack him last year while they were having a drinking session at Rabanes’s house.

“Kabati siya (suspect) storya na ang nag sugo kuno nga lab-on siya, amo ang biktima,” Aurita said.

But the victim’s wife denied the said allegation.

Aurita said the victim’s wife will file murder charges against the suspect, who is still at large.
