A farmer voluntarily surrendered after he shot his younger brother morning of Sept 29, 2022 in Guimbal, Iloilo.

Police identified the suspect as Leopoldo Gicaro, 73, a resident of Barangay Baras, Guimbal.

Leopoldo allegedly confronted 72-year-old Cloualdo Gicaro while the latter was tending to his farm around 7:50 a.m.

The two had a heated argument until Leopoldo drew his gun and shot Cloualdo.

The victim was hit on the neck and was rushed to Rep. Pedro Trono Memorial District Hospital in Guimbal town.

He was later transferred to Western Visayas Medical Center in Iloilo City.

On the other hand, Leopoldo immediately fled on board a motorcycle.

He was arrested at Guimbal town proper around 8:30 a.m.

A caliber .38 revolver was recovered at the crime scene.

Senior Master Sergeant Joey Lauron, Guimbal police investigator, said the two brothers had bad blood against each other over the farm lot, which had not been subdivided to them.

The latest argument they had was when the suspect cut down some banana trees in the disputed lot.

Lauron said they don’t know if the victim would file criminal charges against his brother.
