Farmer found dead in Panay

ROXAS CITY, Capiz— A 36-year-old farmer was found dead Monday afternoon after he was allegedly hit with a piece of bamboo on the head at Barangay Linateran, Panay, Capiz.

The police identified the victim as Arman Rodico of Linateran.

Police Executive Master Sergeant Nomeriano Brillo, deputy chief of Panay PNP, said Rodico was found lying facing down near the riverbank.

Brillo said the drunken victim caused a commotion in their place by challenging his neighbors to a fight.

It is believed that a neighbor took the challenge and attacked Rodico.

Bystanders immediately took the victim to the hospital but he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Police recovered from the crime scene a piece of bamboo allegedly used by the suspect or suspects.

Investigation is ongoing to ascertain the identity of the suspect and the motive behind the incident.
