Ex-soldier nabbed for violence vs women rap

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A retired member of the Philippines Army facing a charge for violence against women was arrested Saturday afternoon at Sitio Bangkal in Brgy. Maninang, Sapian, Capiz.

Alfredo Paharuray Batusbatusan, 59, of Marcelo St., Poblacion Proper, Mambusao town did not resist when police arrested him.

Batusbatusan was charged for violation of the Anti-Violence against Women and their Children Act of 2004.

Roxas City Regional Trial Court Branch 14 Judge Faustino Valenzuela Roxas Jr. issued the warrant on August 6, 2021. He was allowed to post a P36,000 bail for his temporary liberty.

He is presently detained at the Sapian police station.

On the other hand, a 37-year-old man from Brgy. Baybay here was also arrested for the same criminal charge.

Bernie Albason Jr. did not resist when the police served the warrant of arrest issued by the same court on August 6, 2021.

Albason is presently detained at the Roxas City police station.

Meanwhile, a businessman from Dumalag, Capiz was arrested for a perjury charge.

Isidro Fagtanac, 64, of Brgy. Consolacion, Dumalag was arrested at Brgy. San Roque in the same town.

The suspect is facing for violation of Article 183 of the Revised Penal Code for allegedly making “false testimony in other case and perjury in solemn affirmation.”

Municipal Trial Court in Cities Branch 1 Judge Jennie Ann Tayag Logronio in Roxas City issued the warrant with a P9,000 bail.
