A former seafarer was arrested in Leganes, Iloilo after he was allegedly caught engaging in the illegal drug trade.

Jeffrey Gustilo, 33, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Leganes, was collared 9:15 p.m. of August 30 at Lapayon village, Leganes.

The arrest came after a three-week surveillance operation conducted by the Leganes Municipal Police Station.

The Leganes PNP, together with the Iloilo Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, collared the suspect after selling a sachet of suspected shabu for P7,500.

Recovered from the suspects were the marked money, seven sachets of suspected shabu, and several non-drug items.

Lieutenant Cedrick Cruz, Leganes police chief, said an informant tipped off the police on the suspect’s illegal activity.

It was presumed that Gustilo had been into the illegal drug trade for a year already before he got busted.

He had no prior arrest.

Cruz said the suspect reportedly sourced his illegal drug supply from a distributor based in Iloilo City.
