BACOLOD City – Unidentified suspects gunned down the son of a former councilor in Sagay City, Negros Occidental at Barangay Paraiso Thursday night.

The victim, Christian Analucas, 36, of the said village, was included in the drug personality watch list of the Sagay City Police Station.

Police Major Antonio Benitez Jr., city police chief, said Analucas was standing in front of their commercial building at around 7:30 p.m. when a gunman approached and shot him. The gunman then fled on a motorcycle driven by another person towards Cadiz City.

Analucas was with his father-in-law and uncle when the incident happened but were unharmed.

The victim sustained several gunshot wounds and was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead.

Police recovered three spent ammunition shells and a deformed slug of .45-caliber ammunition.

Benitez said the victim has been receiving threats. His wife also shared to the police that someone has been taking photos of their house two weeks before the incident happened.

Benitez said the incident might be drug-related because the victim was supposed to surrender to the police on May 3.

Someone probably prevented his surrender, he added.

The city police chief said the victim had previously attempted to surrender through Oplan Tokhang many times, but failed.

Police are also eyeing feud on properties as a possible motive behind the killing.
